Diving into a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Piece of Feces on a Quest to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and players have encountered numerous entertaining creations from small studios. Yet, one stands out for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game lets you play a character that is literally a turd striving to make its way to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

How you interact is easy to grasp: press a one button to leap. Throughout 150 challenges, you'll face tough enemies and unlock a store to acquire customizations for your dung hero.

Execute your movements carefully, since one wrong move requires restarting the level. Leap using floating orbs to launch the poop upward, cross crumbling ledges, and touch switches to open secret routes. Earn UN-KOINS to purchase more difficult stages as the action ramps up.

Visually, the experience boasts vibrant stages and an amazing soundtrack. The retro visual style with morphing basic polygons may remind gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.

Although tough to think of other games where you play as a piece of feces, video games frequently featured scatological themes. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can create grenades from protagonist excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as plant food. Unsurprisingly, this theme appears a lot in Obsidian's adventure The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already earned notable awards, including winning at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is ready now on Steam, with the final release scheduled to debut on Steam on November 19.
